Avatar

We finally got to see Avatar last night. When it first came out the girls were really small and we just couldn't get the time off to see it. I love 3d and Sci-fi and have heard lots of good things about it......may-be too much.

What a waste of our time! It was far too long and there was no balance in the settings which meant the jungle scenes became very repetitive.

I am actually quite unsure of the effectiveness of the 3d technology when it's used with live action as it creates planes of focus and creates a hyper-realism. The 3d technology seems to work better with animation. Throughout the film the third dimension seemed to be quite toned down and never really used to full effect. I was expecting a lot more.

The story was awful, a great premise done smeared in frosting (US language used on purpose). By about half way through I knew the ending and didn't care how they got there. How that anyone can think this kind of story is acceptable is incredible.

I am trying to think of a character I liked or believed, I can't really, maybe Norm, at a push.
